You're now configured for email. To check for new messages on our server, go to the File menu and select the Check Mail option. Eudora will then download any mail you have into the Inbox folder. Just double-click on the message to read it. To send email, under the Message menu select New Message. Once you've entered the email address, subject, and the message, just hit the "Send" button to send the email.
Enter your real name and your email address ( username@avalon.net ). The incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers are both mail.avalon.net, and your account name and password are the same as your dialup info. Then select that you connect to email manually. You should be all set to do email. Also, the news (NNTP) server is news.avalon.net.
If you don't get this setup menu, just go to the Mail menu option and select Options... under that. Click on the Server tab. Put in your real name and email address ( username@avalon.net ). The Outgoing and Incoming servers are both mail.avalon.net. Your POP3 Account and password are the same thing as you use to dialup to Avalon. Click on the Connection tab. Under the Connection box, select "I connect manually". Click on OK.
To check for new messages, click on the "Send and Receive" button on the main Internet Mail screen. All new messages are placed in your Inbox folder. To switch folders, there should be a bar labeled Folders: that you click on and select which folder you want to view the contents of. To send email, click on the "New Message" button on the main screen. After you've entered the email address, subject and message, click on the little envelope icon under the menu bar to send the email.
To use email, click on the little envelope in the lower right-hand corner. You'll see 3 window panes. The top left box is the folder window. When you click on a folder, the messages in that folder are shown in the top right box. When you click on a message, it is shown in the bottom box. The size of the boxes can all be adjusted by dragging the separator bars.
To check for new email, just click the Get Mail button. New mail is placed in your inbox folder. To send mail, just click the To: Mail button. After you have entered an email address, subject, and message, click the Send Now button to send email.
You should have the main Netscape window and a second window with four icons in it:
Click on Mailbox. If you don't see this little window, go under the Communicator menu (the menu with the Navigator icon, on the left side) and open Messenger mailbox. This should prompt you to finish setting up your server preferences.
Under the Mail & Groups, Click on Mail Server.
If you want Netscape to save your password for checking mail, Click on the More Options... button. Click the box next to "Remember my mail password"
Click on OK on the Preferences menu.
If you want to add or remove folders, under your Communicator menu open the Mes sage Center.
This will show you the list of current folders. Click on the New Folder icon to create your new folder. Name the folder whatever you like. You can close the Message Center an d return to the Messenger Inbox.
If you want to move messages around, just switch the folder bar (usually on Inbo x at first) to the folder which contains the message you want moved. Highlight the message, then u nder the Message menu up top, select File Message and then the folder you want the messag e moved to.
Click on New Card. Enter the person's First and Last name. Enter their email a ddress. Enter a nickname that's easy to remember and associate with this person. Click OK to sa ve changes.
In the Address Book window, you'll now see that person's information listed. If you want to send them an email, you can do this several different ways.
One way is to send a message like normal, except now in the To: field, just put in the person's nickname instead of their email address. Netscape should automatically replace the nickname with the email address.
The other way to send email to someone in the Address Book is to open up the Add ress Book, highlight the person's name, then click on the New Msg icon in the Address Book window. This should open up a New Msg window with that person's email already entered.

If you had to open up the Accounts option manually, make sure you set this new account as default. If you add additional email accounts and want to switch between accounts, just highlight the account and click the "Set as Default" button.
To move messages between folders, the easiest way is to first find the email you want to move. Click on the envelope icon next to the message name and drag it over on top of the folder you want to move it to.
Click on the Address Book icon on the main Outlook window. Click on the New Contact button. Under the Personal tab, enter the person's first & last name, a nickname, and their email address. The nickname is something easy to associate with this person (ie first name).
To send email to this person you can now do it a couple different ways. You can send a message as normal, except instead of typing the email address in the To: field, just put their nickname. Outlook will automatically replace it as it sends the email.
Another simple way to send email to people in the Address Book is to open up the Address Book, highlight the person's name, the click on the Send Mail icon up above. This will then open up a new message window with the email address entered.
Outlook Express is the email software that comes with most versions of Internet Explorer. This set of instructions is specifically from IE 4.0 but should work for most versions of Outlook Express.
· Choose Edit -> Preferences
· Click on New Account, and enter your email address. Leave the account type set to POP, click OK.
· Fill in Account information: Full name, email address again, and for SMTP Server enter:
· In the Receiving Mail section:
· Click OK
To create multiple accounts, follow these same Outlook Express instructions using the other email address you want to check. To switch between accounts choose Edit -> Preferences and select the account you want or go to Tools -> Send & Receive -> account name.
