To setup Dial Up Networking to connect you to the Internet
through Avalon Networks, go to your Start Menu and select Settings and then ControlPanel.
Double click on the Services icon. Scroll down through the list of services and find Remote Access
Server. Double click on "Remote Access Server" and disable it:

When you have "Remote Access Server" disabled, click on the OK
button. Now double click on your My Computer icon on your desktop. When your My Computer
opens, double click on your Dial-Up Networking icon.
In the Dial-Up Networking window, click the New button. Type in " Avalon" as the name:

Click the Next button. All three options should apply to you:

When the "Server" page is properly configured, click on the Next
button. Enter the area code and phone number you will be dialing to connect
to us:
You may have to use a different number than the one shown to access
Avalon from your area. Put in:

Now click on the Next button and choose "Point to Point Protocol":

Hit the Next button and the Login Script page should appear:

Select None on this screen and hit the Next" button:
Most all Avalon customers will have an IP address automaticly assigned
to them, so "MY IP Address" should be left at all zeros (0.0.0.0). If that
is correctly set, click on the Next button to set up DNS:

Make sure that the DNS server is entered correctly and click on the Next button
and then Finish. That should return you to the "Dial-Up Networking" window. Click on the
More button and select Edit entry and modem properties. In the window that appears, click
on the Server tab. In that window, make sure that Use PPP lCP extensions is
NOT checked and then click on the TCP/IP Settings... button:

Make sure that the two DNS servers are entered correctly, and make sure
that Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote host are both checked.
If those are correctly selected, click on the
"OK"
button. Click the OK again. Now click on the Dial button at the bottom of
the window to bring up the "Connect to" screen:

In this example, we setup the program for a fictional user named "John
Doe" whose Username is "jdoe". You will have to insert your Username where
you see "jdoe" in the example screen above. Your password will be shown
as a series of asterisks, so type it carefully and be sure to type the
upper and lower case letters correctly. When you hit the Connect
button, you should connect to the internet and be ready to run any internet
program.
